I personally am not a fan of pepper spray. I have been in a situation before where I was supposed to be treating someone that had been sprayed. It was still in the room and was affecting me to the point I could not operate properly. That being said, if you use it extremely close to your attacker, or if the wind is blowing in the wring direction, you could both be sprayed. My wife carries a folding knife, tactical pen, and a taser that is disguised as a lipstick case. All of these are very discreet and can be carried with any clothing. She has also been instructed on targeting and penetration force when it comes to defense without weapons. Hands on does not have to be fancy. It just needs to be effective.
